Confused

I just recently switched to DSL and am now using McAfee Firewall Plus 6.

It is configured to not accept ping requests, yet the scan at grc.com claims it's ping requests are being answered.

I have the security level set to tight, and have it set to not trust local network.

Anyone have any thoughts on why it would be answering the ping requests?

I had an older version of mcafee that simply changed the settings on the adapter, something not available on the newer version.

TIA

If you are on DSL, and you want to be almost as secure as possible, get yourself a router, a Linksys BEFSR41 for $40, and install it between your DSL modem and your PC. Nothing uninvited, for all practical purposes, will make it to your machine. You can still run the McAfee software of you want, but the router would be a better solution.

Thank you for the reply, i'll look into the router later today.
