Please log in for more thread options WHere does the Optical communications industry stand on Solitons? Before the crash, Solitons were discussed as a means of ultra long haul without repeaters. Especially for submarine systems. Can anyone recommend a good resourse to read up on the near latest on where folks are going with Soliton technology? thanks!!!

Please log in for more thread options Hello, With the divestiture of Algety Telecom, subsidiary of Corvis and inventor of the first and only commercial system using the Soliton technology, it seems that the latest is in stand-by mode at the moment. 40G is gaining momentum for long-haul, CDWM shows its advantages in Metro, so, from an industrial/business point of view, where's the point using Soliton ? As usual with Fiber Optics, let's wait for a while, until the combination of technology, manufacturing processes, and... customer needs reaches the win/win balance ! HTH, _Marc

Hey, you better keep away of that, okay ? Plus, if - by any chance - you have something constructive to say to the community about the topic of discussion (remember ? Soliton), please do so. BFN, _Marc trs80 a =E9crit : > who the hell asked you...you moron
