Loopback detection on ethernet network through HUB

I want to implement lookback detection on the ethernet network. Scenario is when the a switch port is connected to a hub, there is flooding and the switch is not reachable through that swithc port. STP cannot detect this loopback as Hub cannot have STP running. I want to implement some hardware solution to have a speedy detection of this kind of loopback and shutdown the port. I m using Broadcom PHY 5464 and copper cable. If no hardware solution is possible then please let me know the best wat to fix the problem in software, so that it does put load the CPU as the switch can have higher port density. Thanks in advance.
