Please log in for more thread options I need a 24-port gigabit switch to work in a quiet office environment. I've read reviews of the most popular switches that suggest that they have very loud fans. Does anyone know of one which is quiet?

Please log in for more thread options What is your definition of quiet? Does the switch need to be a managed switch, or would an unmanaged switch suffice? The unmanaged 1400-24G has no fan: http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/switches/ProCurve_Switch_1400_Series/specs.htm (it replaces the 2700 series) The webmanaged 1800-24G also has no fan: http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/switches/ProCurve_Switch_1800_Series/specs.htm The "fully managed" (has a serial port :) 2800's have a fan: http://www.hp.com/rnd/products/switches/2800_series/specs.htm There are other small to large ProCurve switches whos specs you can peruse via http://www.hp.com/go/procurve rick jones naturally, I have a bias :) -- No need to believe in either side, or any side. There is no cause. There's only yourself. The belief is in your own precision. - Jobert these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway... :) feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH...
