The regulations on mortgages were alloweed to go ignored, so that the people who set up (brokered) a mortgage didn't have to carry it, and instead sold blocks fo loans off to other institutions. SOme of the loans were shady, but in other cases, people either lied about their income or chose to ignore common sense (such as, If the monthly mortgage payment exceeds your pre-tax montly earnings, you can't afford the house - the only "reason" for gogin for such a thing is if one gambles on being able to flip the house - the operative word being "gamble"). Any financial company that offers "no credit check" or "no collateral" lonas is doing really bad business - if you own stock in such a company, sell it, becasue this "no paperwork" stuff is at best really bad business. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

I try to own PUT options in such companies ;-) There will be some meat & gravy coming along when the "Option ARM's" begin to reset in September with all those suckers in the market believing that "we have seen the bottom".
