VLAN trunking protocol on C2960-S switches

I just received a C2960S-24TS-L, and discovered that it doesn't understand the "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q" interface command. I did a Web search, and found a response about the fact that this was unrecognized because this model of switch only supports dot1q encapsulation, so the command was unnecessary. Is this accurate? I want to make sure the "vlan trunking protocol" is configured correctly before I put the switch into production.

Thanks, Mike

Yes that is correct. Only the legacy hardware (ie. 4500/6500) supports ISL trunking any longer, and the standard, dot1q, is the only way for new school switch hardware.

It's true - I've done the same before and it's working fine with a dot1q trunk.
