No real gotchas with the 5Ks, but rememner management is OOB.
If you want to run vPC, you will need a pair og 10G links joining the pair of
5Ks.
With the 7Ks, the biggest things to watch for are make sure they support any specific features you need - they are very much stripped down packet forwarding machines. If you need things like SLB, WCCP etc you may need to look closely at your options.
The second is the way they eat ports, particularly on the 32 port cards.
There is no internal link between VDCs for traffic.
There are two modes to run the interfaces in, shared and dedicated.
These two points can really eat cards.
If you are running two VDCs, and you want two links to join the VDCs as well, that is four interfaces per 7K already. If you want to make sure you have the full 10G you need to run the interfaces in dedicated mode. That can be set per group of four, but it does mean that if you want two dedicated 10G links between switches, you are using half a 32-port card already.
If you want to run vPC on the 7Ks, you need a pair of 10G links joining the VDCs, These are dedicated vPC port links and are in addition to any links you need to join vPCs for ser traffic. You have two VDCs want two links to join them and you want to run vPC on the, that is a 32 port line card fully used.
