Thats the easy part, cisco even puts it right up in the product page.. <http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps7077/products_qanda_item0900aecd805bbea5.shtml>

Thats a bit harder to define. I believe the biggest differences in the ME line vs. non ME are just a handful of features. Mainly VLAN mapping (VLAN translation), as well as DC power support, and more power options. That product page also has the question answered in the Q&A, although its a softer line of distinction. <http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5532/products_qanda_item09186a00801eb822.shtml>
Basicly, the ME line looks to be targeted towards pure service-providers, and the non-ME looks to be targeted towards more enterprise doing advanced MPLS/dynamic routing options. | ||||||||||||||||

Mainly VLAN mapping (VLAN translation), as well > as DC power support, and more power options. main reasons for the metro at work are dual power, and the PXF chips (which allow hierarchical QoS on the 2 "WAN" GigE ports, so several logical links can share a connection, and have soft bandwidth limits). These are relatively expensive, but the really painful bit used to be the "enhanced" licence cost. >
