DECT handsets with Call Manager 4.0 and an ATA 188

We've got a security building that's too far from our main site to use a CAT5 cable link. We've left the guard with a standard analogue phone on the end of a two wire link to an ATA 188. Is there anything specific I need to know or do to provide the guard with a DECT phone that will enable him to transfer calls back into the main buildingas if using an IP phone? The analogue handset he's using doesn't have these features but before I go out and buy something I've been told to make sure that the ATA supports the relevant features. How can I determine what if anything needs doing? Thanks in advance.
