really like to know: does running VoIP require using VWICs, or can you use WICs? I'm talking about VoIP over T1s, and if routers equiped with WICs can do LLQ and other kinds of QoS needed for voice traffic, or if only VWICs have that capability. Thanks. | |||||||||||||

Please log in for more thread options you only need a VWIC if you want TDM voice down the trunk, or some other sort of channelised interface (we use E1 VWICs @ work for 2 Mbps lines with 1 64k channel reserved for status signalling). The router queue management on the 38xx and down is done in software - it doesnt need any specific hardware assistance from the interface, so AFAIK it work with any of them. WICs are generally the normal way to connect to subrate T1 / E1 connections - and there is nothing special about using all the possible bandwidth on the circuit. >
