token ring?

hi, I've got a couple of 2521's which don't have ethernet, only token ring. I was thinking of getting a token ring hub so that I can expermitent with broadcast multiaccess networks. am I right in thinking they use standard ethernet cat 5 cable? am I also right in thinking token ring is layer 2, so IP will sit ontop and the layer 2 is largely irrelevant? (for the purposes of experimenting with layer 3 techonoligies)

You are correct that IP doesn't care what layer 2 technology gets its packets to the other end.

However, as far as TR is concerned, what you are looking for is not exactly a hub, but a MAU.

TR can use cat3, cat5, or coax...

Connectors are RJ-11, RJ-45, 9-pin, or Type-I.
