Newbie Question - SNMP configuration on Cisco 3750 Switch

Mark,

I believe Switchport mapper uses a RO string. I use that product at many of my customer locations and it works great.

The enable traps line is unneeded for what you are trying to use.

no snmp-server community teststring RW snmp-server community teststring RO

Another thing obviously is to make sure the solarwinds machine has connectivuty to the switch. A simple ping from the station will verify that.

Hi can I get some help please. I'm trying to test Solarwinds Engineer tools and they have a Util called Switch Port Mapper. It requires the Switch to have SNMP set up. I followed the config guide but it doesn't work

sh conf on switch shows ! snmp-server community teststring RW snmp-server enable traps tty !

and the SolarWinds tool says

"192.168.2.2 does not reply to SNMP queries using teststring."

Have I missd something?

Thanks Brian I'll try the RO setting. Connectivity is fine. There is no filtering/firewalling etc between the router and the switch.
