Hi,

I've been looking into some Cisco Press certification material (for
CCNA & CCNP) and saw that for the same subject there are two different
kinds of books available: "Self-Study Guides" and "Exam Certification
Guides".

Why two books? Does anybody know what the difference is? Which is
better if one wants to take the exam?

Thanks,

James

Re: Difference between Self-Study and Exam Certification Guides
I definitely prefer the Self-Study, or "Foundation Learning" series.
They tend to be more in-depth on the topic, even if that means they go
deeper into a subject than the exam will test on.  As such, they're
almost always longer, but they usually don't have as many practice
questions or a test engine on CD.
