CCNP require Valid CCNA?

hi all,

as i seen a lot of msg here before. but i still got no ans with it.

there are two msg from cisco web site:

1) in instant answer of CCNP : Can I achieve a Professional Level certification with an expired CCNA certification?

Answer No, a valid CCNA certification is a prerequisite for Professional Level certifications.

2)in the CCNA recertification : CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Qualified Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a CCIE written exam on or after October 1, 2004.

what does it mean?

still need to renew the CCNA before get the CCNP? or just pass the

642(ccnp) level exam is ok? please kindly advice.

If your CCNA has expired then you will need to recertify CCNA first.

If your CCNA is set to expire in the "future" (i.e. expires on 12/31/06) and you then pass any 642-xxx exam (on 7/1/06), your CCNA will be valid through

7/1/09.

Nope, CCIE has no pre reqs. However if you pass the CCIE written, any CCxP certs are renewed, and I would presume CCxA also.

Hi, Inorder to take any of the cisco exams, except CCDP and CCIE you need a valid CCNA. If your CCNA is expired, u can recertify by passing the current CCNA exam. For example you passed the CCNA on 1 jan 2003, your ccna will expire on

1 jan 2006. In this case you can renew the CCNA by either taking the current CCNA exam or by passing any 642 professional level or Cisco Qualified Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a CCIE written exam BEFORE 1 JAN 2006
