CCDA recertification question

My CCDA will be expiring next month... and my CCNA expired 3 year ago. I'd like to save at least CCDA this time.

Recertification options for CCNA/CCDA are:

Complete one of the following recertification options: ? Pass the current certification exam ? Pass a Cisco Qualified Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams) ? Pass any Professional level exam bearing a 642 prefix

I want to go with option a "642 prefix", but at the same time the prerequirement for taking any of 642 exam - CCNA, so am I missing something here?

Any help much appreciated.

it means, if you take any of CCNP/CCDPetc exams (they all start with 642) it will recertify you

So I don't have to have a valid CCNA to be able to take a 642-xxx exam?

thanks, Vlad

That's right, you can take the exam but if the CCNA is a prerequisite then you won't be allowed to claim to be a Cisco Certified Whatever until you have passed the CCNA too.
