Hi everyone!
Came across a link to Marvell website
(http://www.marvell.com/products/vct_soft.jsp, kudos to J. Clarke for post
in comp.dcom.lans.ethernet -
http://www.cabling-design.com/forums/article2974-13.htm).
They describe the new functions they built into their Gigabit Ethernet
chip, namely Alaska. The chip is said to use TDR (time domain
reflectometer) functionality for length tests to shorts and open pairs,
and it can also perform other tests, such as wire maps and impedance
mismatch as well as delay skew.
That sounds wonderful (almost too good to be true ;-)
So, has anyone used NICs and/or switches with their chip and software yet?
Any real world feedback someone?
