Hi all

im interfacing pc to trio motion controller through RS 232 but the
problem i am facing is that the connection to controller is lost again
and again due to EMI. can any one suggest how to protect RS 232 from
EMI and RFI.
Waiting for positve response

Use fiber converters to provide ground isolation...

How do you know it's EMI ? RS-232 is kind of robust.

Don't blame me. I voted for Gore. Proudly then, even more so in hindsight.

Serial data can usually be run for up to 150 feet over foiled twisted
pair if the data rate is 9600 or below. It depends on a lot of factors.
How long is the cable? What kind of cable is it? (single conductors or
twisted pair) What speed are you running? (bit rate or baud rate) What
kind of ground is on the equipment? The standard RS-232 cable is not
twisted pair, so if you're using twisted pair, the problem may be caused
by interference between transmit and receive.
