Hello,

Just looking for opinions on fibre optic couplers. We have to go 20 feet,
and we only have 6 foot patch cords. Can we use some simplex multimode
fibre couplers to connect three patch cords together?

What sorts of problems, if any, could we expect? NOTE: We're still within
our distance limitation.

Thanks,

Dave

Why not just get patch cords that are long enough?

I would second that, it's always best to have the right length. BUT, if
you are within the distance limitations AND within you signal loss
budget, then there are not limits on the number of connectors.

Dave,
You can use fiber couplers to join four 6 foot patch cords; expect a
loss of 0.5 to 1 db per coupler. And for that short of a distance,
you'll have minimal cable loss. It will look kludgy. Make sure the
couplers are dust free by blowing them out with canned air.
