Question? Program capable of standby

Hey i was just wondering if there is a program out there that is capable of making the motorola cable modem to standby mode where the orange light is at the bottom instead of pressing the standby button on the actual modem, like a program where i can run it on my computer to make it standby =] thanks i was just wondering if there was such a thing

If there were, it would most likely involve using SNMP.

It may also involve having a password to effect the change or at least coming from the wideband side.

So I'm guessing not likely.

Well, it doesn't have to be that complicated. The old 2100D and 3100D modems had a similar function through the http interface on the user side of the modem. They had to be able to be put into and taken out of standby from the desktop when they were used in a one-way cable system, but the function could also be adapted to a two-way situation as well. (On those modems, if you went to one of the internal web pages, there was a link to activate/deactivate the modem, and the "software" on the desktop was just a short-cut to that http link.)

Whether that functionality was retained in the later modem series that didn't have D versions, I don't know. It's not something that people generally ask for. It's possible that the functionality is still there, and can still be accessed through the http side. I just don't know if anyone has bothered with it.
