How to set your own DNS servers with a Linksys Router

All - in light of the recent Comcast problems, I am testing using public DNS servers instead of Comcast's. Using a Linksys BEFSR11 / BEFSR41 router - go to the DHCP tab. This is the settings page for DHCP clients. This is where I put in:

199.166.28.10 199.166.31.3 199.5.157.128

Now - DHCP clients will get these DNS servers. A VERY INTERESTING POINT...I use static IP addresses in my house. A typical machine is set to:

IP address: 192.168.1.75 subnet: 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.1.1

By setting it up this way - the static TCPIP machines will also use the new DNS servers sine they are point to the router, and the router is now pointing to the new DNS servers. Check out the STATUS TAB (do a dhcp release and renew) to see the new DNS servers as part of the new configuration.
